Water Weight

Postby Amy on Thu Jul 17, 2008 9:07 am

I've never done this before, but decided to weigh myself before and after last night's run. I was so dehydrated last week, thought I'd give it a try. I lost 2 lbs running 10 miles yesterday! Since I was wearing a lot of it too, I'm sure I lost more than 2 lbs water. Lesson: HYDRATE!

My new favorite recovery beverage: low sugar pomegranite juice mixed with sprite zero with a lime wedge. Had one after 32 oz of water and was rehydrated in no time. :)

I find I usually go down a couple pounds -- my worst so far have been 5 down and 7 down! I'm pretty sure I needed to hydrate more.

Ya think? Maybe you could rig up an I.V. to a camelback or something so it's more convenient.

I don't want to rock the hydration boat, and I always advocate lots of water. This week I've done several runs 11 miles each and not drank on run at all. I do feel thirsty after about an hour, so that is probably the point in which I should drink something, but drinking afterwards have worked out well. I'll try the weight test sometime soon to find out what I'm losing. This morning I got up, had a cup of coffee, about 20 oz of gatorade along with cereal and bread. I waited about a half hour and went out. When I got back I drank another 16 oz of gatorade, more coffee and cereal.
