Sundays in Solomons

Postby mablyb on Sat Mar 21, 2009 3:32 pm

I'm planning on starting back up the long run in Solomon's (and elsewhere) on early Sunday mornings. I know a lot of you have made appearances in these early runs in the past. Tomorrow (3/22) I plan on running from the firehouse (Rte 4 and Dowell Rd) at 7am for about 10 miles (is that early enough for you Paul?). The pace will depend on who shows up, and personally I am pretty out of shape (in better days we used to run this at around an 8min/mile pace). Feel show up at 7:30am at the firehouse for 6 miles around the island if you want to sleep in.

I'd like to make it, as I want to do a few easy (slower) miles, but I don't know if my husband has to work or not yet...should find out soon. Also, There is the Fishing Fair or something at the Firehouse this weekend, so for those driving do you think there will be parking available? I saw lots of boats and stuff in back and tents etc. in front of the firehouse today. This is not a problem for me since I run to the fire house, but for those that drive I just wonder if there will be open parking.

Can probably park at the Food Lion if the firehouse is full.

Anyone interested in a 10 mile run tomorrow (5/3) morning, join us behind the Solomon's firehouse (Rte 4 and Dowell Rd) at 6:30am for about 10 miles. The pace will be around 8 min/mile, but this will depend on who shows up. Feel show up at 7am behind the firehouse for 6 miles around the island if you want to sleep in.

Even though I felt less than great, I still enjoyed the run today. Kind of humid but at least the rain has washed away alot of pollen. I only waited a couple of minutes at the firehouse then took off down Dowell Rd. figuring if anyone showed up they would probably catch me at my slow pace. As I was coming out of Calvert Marina, I saw Blaine was heading in and running strong. He caught up by the Marine Museum. Hope the rest of your run was good.

Sorry I was late! It was a great morning to run though and good to have company. I'll be sure to be on time next week and maybe we can get ahold of Prasad and Devlin (sp?), I saw them just starting on Dowell around 7am.

Tomorrow morning (Sunday) looks like there will be great running weather. Again, 6:30 am for 10 miles around Solomon's or come at 7am for the 6 mile segment. We meet behind the firehouse on Dowell Rd. I will try to more punctual this week!

Is anyone planning on running the usual Solomon's route(s) at 6:30 tomorrow morning? I'm going to be slow, and may get a few minutes head-start from you fast people (I'm slowly getting over a sinus infection and have only run 3 times in the last 12 days or so). Maybe I'll see some of you out there and I'm sure you'll catch up and pass me at my turtle pace.

I was thinking I'd like to come run tomorrow morning -- but as usual, it depends on whether I really want to wake up that early.... So maybe I'll see you.

Enjoyed the run

Thanks for the company Sue.

Looks like they moved up the start to 0600 for Dowell loop and 0630(+) for Island Loop.

As we gave up and left about 0635 for the Island Loop and ran into them not long after we turned back, they were the late ones :)

LOL. Thanks for running (more like jogging) at my slow pace. It was nice to have company for a change.

OK, so it's going to be 0600 meeting time now? Is that what was said?

That's what I understood. 0600 start time. 0630 to meet them after the Dowell loop for the island loop. Is your avatar photo from Mrs Smith?

My avatar is from the HAT Run 50K. :D It's the field at the beginning of the 'big loop' (14 mi.) that we run twice after the small 3.6 mile loop at the start. I'm the runner in pink.
