This Sunday I discovered that running in the heat, even if it is cloudy, can lead to both fatigue and red, sore skin, especially if the clouds disappear after a little while, and you forgot all about that magic lotion that you're supposed to wear to prevent sunscreen....

Interestingly enough I was running without a hat nor shirt last Thursday and got burnt a bit. So with that in mind, and hanging around the neighbor's pool but not going in Sunday morning I sunscreened up for a long run. Didn't start it until 9:30 and I was out there for "a while" and I didn't get a burn. Of course that's the first time I've remembered my SPF 30 this year even though I have wanted to ever since halfway through my positive split marathon last month when it got a bit sunny.

I did speedwork this morning before work. Even at 7am it was oppressivley hot and humid. I should've gotten to the track at 6am. I survived the workout and sweated and drank my way to get a shower. Getting acclimated to the heat is a good thing, but I think speedwork is best when you can push your legs as fast as they'll go. It was a struggle right to the end.

I ran tonight after the meeting, and by twilight it felt almost cold -- I dunno how far the temp really dropped, but it felt substantial.

Not to be deterred any symptoms of intelligence, I ran Sunday in the heat and sun, and didn't know where any sunscreen was, and got sunburned again...
