I've been running off and on for a couple years, but I'm trying now to run more regularly and for longer distances. I'll be in the Chesapeake Bay area for the summer (June to September) and would enjoy joining you for track runs and even for longer runs if there are other slower-paced runners.
If you have suggestions for 5-10 mile runs that are safe and trouble-free for women running alone, that would be great too! These would be especially good in the Lusby/Solomons area

I wonder if the Solomon's island loop might be a good one, as it is fairly well lit (not thru woods) in the daylight? But I live in St Mary's, and some of the other people know Calvert much better than I.
By the way, what "slower-paced" means might vary from person to person; some people might think 10min/mile is slow, and some people might think 12min/mile is slow, and some people might think 15min/mile is slow. And I guess to the Kenyans and Ethiopians, 6min/mile might be slow
I was in Boston on business a few weeks ago, and I went for a run along the Charles River, and it was really neat how there were many runners out going along it on both sides. I wish there was something like that down here...
I caught the end of the first Fri social run, and missed the second, but my wife and Merrie Beth ran together on the first one, and usually when the three of us (my wife, myself, and Merrie Beth) run, I think we run around 9:30-10min/mile.

| I run in Solomons frequently. I think I'm about a 9:00 - 9:30 min/mile pace. Sometimes I do my own rough version of speedwork, my recovery intervals are probably 10:00 - 10:30. If either of those are about your pace, let me know. I don't mind doing penalty laps to have some company for intervals.

| Too bad they don't have playgrounds in the center of any of the tracks. (Wed at the college is convenient for track for us b/c two of our running partners there have kids that attend the CBAC swim workouts there that night.) Perhaps you could run around the government center while they play at the playground in front of Leonard Hall...

| Or have a group with similar age kids meet at a track and either take turns watching them or bring the kids bikes and let them ride around while your running.
