I signed up this morning. This is a great race, and always a mental challange b/c of the heat.
This will be my 7th A-10.

| I was thinking of Scott Payne, as I know Scott Beers has a login here with his photo on it.

I'll be there to volunteer again, but that's too much distance in too much heat for me. I've never seen so many bloody (nipples) shirts and people throwing up at the finish line as I did last year. And my kids wondered why I wouldn't let them wear flip-flops!
As I told Paul, I'll make sure to cheer you on at the start, with an ice cold beer in my hand. And yes, at 8 in the morning.

Yes, beer at 8. He (Paul) started the taunting first!
Chaptico is usually on Saturday and the A10 on Sunday.

Question about packet pick-up on Sunday: Last year I drove up and got my packet on Sat. This weekend I'm not sure yet if I will be able to get it on Sat. due to a son's football game in Indian Head at the middle of the day. So my question is: Have any of you guys picked up on Sunday? The A-10 website says we can pick up on race day but I am just wondering how chaotic or long of a wait it might be to get the packet Sunday (I would definitely get there very early). I hope there is a way I can get it Sat. but if not...oh well. Thanks for any advice. _________________ Next Up: Baltimore Marathon 10/11/08

Yes, You can pick up your packet on Sunday (Race Day). I do it that way every year. If you get there early, the lines are shorter, But even if you aren't early, the lines aren't too bad, and move quickly.
The longest lines are at the Port-o-Jons, not the packet Pick-up.

Funny thing mentioning the port-o-jons....Last year I was IN one when the horn for the START went off!!! I had been in line for like 20 minutes and HAD to go (I had been riding in a car for almost an hour you know). So when I get out of the jon, there was still a few people who were waiting to go in! I hurried to the starting corral and then waited...it took me 5 minutes to cross the timing start mats. So actually I had a few extra minutes. hahaha. Needless to say, this year I don't want to cut it so close.
Thanks, I think I'll just plan on getting there much earlier for packet and port-o-jon! _________________ Next Up: Baltimore Marathon 10/11/08

I always pick up on Sunday, too... and have never had a problem, although it's been a few years since I've done this race. Since they give the premium AFTER the race, you don't have to worry about not getting the size you want if you're one of the last people at packet pick up. Anyway, I'm planning to pick it up Sunday morning as usual. _________________ Army 10 Miler - 10/05/08
