Go Blaine! And I hope the whole thing goes well including the end.

What's your strategy? I mean, are you trying to go pretty fast, or just to go comfortably?

Oh, sorry--you have me mistaken for your friend again. I'm Mary; I met you briefly at the LPR 10 Miler. Anyway, my MCM went worse then I'd hoped, but I finished and have a great respect for the distance! I think I'll be better prepared for next time...

Oh, I did not see this message before today so: CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST MARATHON! Sorry your marathon wasn't what you hoped for. How do you feel today? Hope recovery goes well for you. My first marathon was Baltimore '06, and it took about 3 or 4 days before I could walk "normal" down any stairs. I think I'd like to run MCM one day, but just the sheer size (number of runners) of the event makes me cringe a little.
Next Up: Nov. 28 NCR Trail Marathon //////

I feel pretty good, actually. The size of MCM is a bit much, but it was fun. Crowd support was great. I had feet issues, stomach issues, lack of sleep issues, so after the half, I was spent. My friend ran with me and I think she's just too fast for me to stick with. I like to run alone, so I can pace myself better. There's always next year, and I know now what to expect. The race is on Halloween next year! :-)

(Sorry, your sign on name looks similar to Blaine's, and I'm old enough to keep repeating my mistakes :))

That, btw, was my impression of MCM as well --"the size was a bit much"

But it was fun having so much crowd support -- it was my first big marathon (I'd only done LPRM before, which has 200 runners and fewer than 200 supporters along the course, so huge contrast).

Did you make it across the finish line?

Ha, a marathon on Halloween might be entertaining, seeing lunatics run in costumes....

Oh, yeah, I made it all the way up that last hill. I made sure I had enough to get that done. I would be too embarrassed to walk up in front of all those people! But I did have to walk a lot after the 20 mile mark, so I didn't reach my goal. But I did it and now I know what to expect for next year. I won't be in costume, that's for sure!

I have decided to try my luck at the MCM next year. Congrats Mary on finishing.
