Run before the meeting

Postby vic_runner on Mon Feb 09, 2009 11:36 pm

I really enjoyed my run today with Perry & Crystal, then Sierra a bit later. I tried to take it easy, but may have helped run a bit too fast for crystal who wasn't feeling perfect today. We met at the elementary school and ran past Charlene's house a few times, much like the Christmas run not too long ago. Today it was more like spring, perfect for shorts and my favorite red t-shirt. The rolling hills led us to someone burning leaving in their front yard as we enjoyed what could have been a nice fall day except for the dead grass and leafless trees. After 40 minutes of running we rendezvoused with Sierra at 5pm again and went out again. Perry escorted Crystal back early, but drove out to meet Sierra & I as we picked up the pace. By the time we were back to Charlene's driveway, we ran it fast and even raced up the driveway while Sierra got a jump on us back to the school. We all raced back, and Sierra touched her car first, a sign she's done this before... A better hour and a half run before a meeting I could not imagine.

Report

Postby Perry2 on Tue Feb 10, 2009 2:50 pm

I know both of you have been anticipating the numeric report -- and I even have a graph!

From when I jumped out of the car & joined you to the end was 1.62mi.

1mi in 7:48

.62mi in 4:28 (7:12 pace)

pace vs. grade over last 0.62mi:

(I found the grade plot hard to understand)

pace vs. elevation over last 0.62mi:

On the elevation plot, their driveway must be the peak of the hill in
the very middle of the graph -- the school being the taller hill to
the right.

I know our pace was faster than that!

Thanks for the hilly run guys. It felt great to get out there. I felt bad about jumping into your long run with fresh legs and bumping up the pace. It doesn't help that we all have to lead!

Oh, and I knew once you two took off up the Staats driveway, that was my chance to break for the school. I could hear your footsteps and knew I had to book it to make it to my car! :)

Thanks for the run on Monday. It was a nice day! I was bummed I didn't get to finish out a full 8 miles though. No worries about pace Vic. That was fine - turns out that I went home with the "I think I'm going to puke" feeling and have had that most of the day today and this evening. Perry hasn't felt well either so I do hope the both of you do not come down with whatever this is.

I got my shirt, Sierra. Thanks. Fits great. Looks great. Tastes great. Oh wait, that last one was for a chocolate chip cookie.
