I think this one is my favorite of the New Balance ads I saw during the Boston Marathon coverage:

I liked that one too. I kind of liked all their ads, it almost makes me want to try a pair of New Balance shoes. (I ran in some long, long ago back in my Army days...)

They had a casting call for a New Balance ad campaign in Arlington last year, and I auditioned. The ad said they weren't looking for just pretty faces, but serious runners, and they had no problem with unorthodox looks, like tattoos, shaved heads, etc. The women had to wear size 7 shoes and the guys 9.5. We were photographed in this New Balance outfit of singlet and shorts, and the shorts were way too big for me. Then they videotaped us individually, running in a grassy area in our own clothes. You probably remember the ad - it was a generic white guy, and the woman was Asian, with dark hair in a ponytail. The videotape was running in a loop at the NB booth at Boston last year, and the print ads were all over the running magazines. Hmm, since they ended up with an Asian, maybe I got more than a passing glance. I guess she fit the outfit better. I don't wear New Balance shoes - Mizuno or Adidas for me.

I'm not a Nike fan, but I think I've had a run or two like this:

I don't like Nike either (apparel - okay, shoes - no) but they have a great ad agency/marketing dept.
