Hughesville 5K & 10K, Oct 3 (Sat)

Last year was the first year for these, and I wasn't there (I was helping with Petrucelli). DR told me that the 10K course doesn't have significant hills on it.

Oh, I'm hoping you're right. I did the National Capital 20 Miler last Sunday in Alexandria (as a training run for MCM, my first!), and the hills did me in..... Is the 10K course posted anywhere?

Dunno about a posted course. Low 38s is your goal, sir, specifically 38:20 or better :)

(Cause I'd like company.)

Oops, I thought you were Blaine; my mistake. You opened your marathon training with a 20 mile race? Wow, that's plunging right in, alright :)

I figured why not use it as a training run, and let them provide the logistics for something I have to do, anyway. I got a nice long sleeve Brooks tech shirt out of the deal, too. I didn't set any land speed records, but got it done, so it's all good!

We got lucky as far as "isolated thunderstorms" -- none hit Hughesville.

We drove out the course (so Crystal could see it) on our way out, and she remarked that it has hills -- and we stopped at Oak Ridge Pk on our way south, and found where the restrooms are -- they have a real building with restrooms, not just the port-a-potty sitting next to where we had our Oak Ridge Trail Run.

Seemed to be lots of Hughesville volunteers -- many under the age of 12 -- and I thought the volunteers & crowd did a great job of cheering for finishers as they came toward the line.
