Our last trail run will be this Sunday at Greenwell State Park. When you enter the park, turn left at the intersection, to drive to the pavilion with the playground and bathroom facility -- where Three Oaks & Walden Sierra start. Remember it is a MD state park with a $3 entry fee (on the honor system so there is no one to make change for you).

The last trail series run was nice...Nice and HOT. I still had a nice time, the course was mostly flat but running in the kind of deep grass along all the fields/meadows was a little more work. Throw in a little black snake (2 1/2 -3 ft) that zooms across your path just a few feet from your next foot fall, well that sure kicks your heart rate to another level for a few minutes. . I hate snakes, and this is the second one I have encountered on my last 2 runs. But anyway, this series of trail runs has been alot of fun, and nice for me to meet some other club members/runners and see a bunch of other parks and trails that I hadn't been to before. THANK YOU to all the volunteers and organizers--you guys rock!

I was really sorry to have missed this last run in the trial series. A flareup in my knee over the last week has made me very cautious and I was afraid running Sunday would push it over the edge. All of the trail runs have been a treat and I agree with Sue that it's been a wonderful way to see so many great parks in our area. Thanks to all volunteers - you really made this a fun and memorable experience. I'm already looking forward to next year!

The freshly spread manure and the 90+ heat were, um, nice touches. Scott Payne assured me that I wasn't getting nearly the full effect of the manure smell as I would have, had I attended their marking run the day before.

I'm impressed that we had a real trail runner come out to show us how to do it -- run right into a snake, that's what the real trail runners do...

And I'm curious if "real" trail runners let out a half scream-half yelp sound when they run over or very near a snake....? Not that I did that...but I'm not saying I didn't either...

What I'm curious about, is how many snakes you hit per mile on your 98027348902347 mile hat run, versus the 0.2 snakes/mile you hit at Greenwell?

Ha Ha Ha. Well it was much colder at the HAT run, so I didn't even worry about slithering creatures. Another good thing I suppose is that at least the 2 snakes I have encountered have been Black snakes. What if I run across a Copperhead?!!

Then you're doing it wrong. You want to run around a copperhead.
